Our name reflects the fact that while we serve families from all over the world, the majority of our families are residents of the Upper Midwest.

Each of our programs has unique eligibility requirements. In general, families who access our services have children who are inpatients at one of our partner hospitals. See below for specific eligibility requirements for each program:

All of our programs are designed to provide families a home-away-from-home during a very trying time. We offer a place to relax and recoup away from the busy hospital environment, overnight accommodations when appropriate, and services such as complimentary meals and snacks, free laundry facilities, special family programming, exercise rooms and more.

Generous individuals and compassionate organizations from across the Twin Cities and the Upper Midwest donate a majority of our operating income.

The Twin Cities Co-Op, comprised of McDonald's owner operators in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, generously funds a portion of our annual operating income. However, the majority of our funds come from individual and organizational donors.

The actual cost to house a family is approximately $95 per night. Families are asked to pay $60, however no family is every turned away due to their inability to pay.

Yes! Meal volunteers from our Cooks for Kids program prepare and serve dinner every night and brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Meal schedules and menus are available at each location. In addition, each location has a Help Yourself Pantry that families can access any time.

Yes, please include the name of the honoree when making an online or mailed donation. If you wish, a tribute card can be sent to that person, acknowledging the gift.

A tribute card is a card that is sent to a specific person, letting him/her know a donation has been made in their name to RMHC-UM. The cards can be in memory of, in honor of, in thanks of, in celebration of, Get Well or Happy Holidays. The donation amount is never included with these cards, however a $10.00 minimum donation per tribute is requested.

No, due to health concerns we only accept new, unused and unexpired donations.
