Camp RMH

Ronald McDonald House – Oak Street

Position Overview

Every summer, the kids staying at our RMH-Oak Street House have the opportunity to sign up for Camp RMH – a three-month long summer camp filled with fun activities, field trips, and more! Volunteers help ensure the success and safety of camp each day. You’ll work closely with our Family Programs & Activities Manager to assist with activities and engage with the kids enrolled in camp. Typical tasks could include:

  • Assisting with pre-planned activities – helping with the setup, organization, and cleanup
  • Chaperoning field trips and ensuring everyone has a safe and fun experience
  • Engaging with families, kids, staff, and volunteers in a professional and appropriate manner

Is the Camp RMH role right for you?

Our team of Camp RMH volunteers support our efforts to offer family-friendly programs and activities for the families staying at RMH. Volunteers can expect to work directly with patients, siblings, or caregivers and enjoy creating a welcoming and stimulating environment for those around them. The Camp RMH role is great for individuals with:

  • Excellent communication skills with both children and adults
  • General organizational and cleaning skills
  • An interest in working with kids and families

Typical Hours and Commitment

Family Service volunteers commit to a recurring 2–3-hour shift on a weekly or bi-weekly basis during the summer months of June-August. Shifts are typically 8:30am-12pm & 1pm-3pm weekdays. We ask that volunteers commit to the full summer.

An overview of your position will be provided during your orientation and House tour. On the day of your first shift, you will meet some of the RMH staff members who will be providing you guidance throughout your time in the House. More detailed training and guidelines will be provided at the start of each shift.
