Driver
Ronald McDonald House – Oak Street
Position Overview
Drivers are essential to our mission and ensuring RMH families have access to much needed supplies and resources. Throughout the week, drivers use the RMH van to transport meals and supplies from the Oak Street location in Minneapolis to our three hospital sites in the Twin Cities. They also assist with picking up donations from community partners and donors in the area after fundraising events such as wish list drives or pantry collections. Daily tasks may include the following:
- The transport of meals, supplies or donations efficiently to and from various RMH locations in the Upper Midwest
- If possible, assisting with loading and unloading the van
- Tracking mileage and gas level
Is the driver role right for you?
Volunteer drivers often work alone and must be comfortable driving in Minneapolis and St Paul. When picking up donations in the community, drivers represent RMH and should be willing and able to act professionally and gracious to our generous donors. Typical pick-up sites include local businesses, restaurants, McDonald’s, schools, and other sites in the Upper Midwest. This role is great for an individual with:
- A current, valid driver’s license
- A clean driving record
- An interest in driving a delivery van and/or a large passenger van
- Good customer service skills
Typical Hours and Commitment
Meal delivery trips take place weekly on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 2pm-4pm. Donation pickups are scheduled throughout the year on an as needed basis and may occur during daytime hours on any day of the week. Depending on availability and schedule, volunteer drivers typically pick up anywhere from 1- 6 shifts per month.
